This course features five sets of tees to choose from, so every skill level will enjoy playing here. Water hazards come into play on thirteen holes. Even though the fairways are tree lined, they do afford generous landing areas. Locals say the greens will even challenge the best putters in the game. The most talked about hole is #6, a 549-yard, par 5, featuring a double dogleg fairway destined to become a player's favorite. An additional eighteen holes are scheduled to open in the spring of 2000.
Described as classic and traditional by it's designer, PGA TOUR professional Mark McCumber, the Okatie Creek Golf Club makes use of the natural contours of the land as it winds through the abundant Southern pines and marshes of South Carolina's Lowcountry. "This is a wonderful setting for golf... the course is challenging without being overbearing... Okatie Creek is a classic course players will find fun, not frustrating," says McCumber. Five sets of tees provide everyone with a fair test of golf and they allow players of all abilities to enjoy their round, and the choice of "attack or relax" for their style of play. |
