The Masters Tournament, one of the biggest events in golf, is an annual event that takes place at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Each year, this prestigious event hosts the most famous names in the sport as they showcase their skills. Just a state away, the slightly lesser-known Monday After the Masters Pro-Am draws thousands of fans to South Carolina to see some of the biggest names in music and entertainment.
The Sixteenth Annual Monday After the Masters Pro-Am is slated to take place on April 12, 2010, at The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach SC. This exciting event was not always as well-liked as it is today. It began as a simple gathering of friends who congregated to raise money for junior golf. Over the past 16 years, however, this tournament has grown in both prestige and popularity, attracting thousands of people to the area to enjoy South Carolina Golf at one of the most beautiful South Carolina Golf Courses and see some of their favorite celebrities and professional athletes in action.
For the past several years, ‘90s sensation Hootie & the Blowfish have been headlining the tournament. In addition to providing attendees with great music, this celebrated band of musicians participates to raise money for children’s education through their charity, the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation. Other proceeds from the charitable tournament go to the South Carolina Junior Golf Association, the National Minority Golf Scholarship Association, and Junior Golf Land. Today, the Monday After the Masters Pro-Am has raised millions of dollars for the youth of South Carolina, and has grown into one of the largest fundraisers in the state.
Those who are lucky enough to attend the Monday After the Masters Pro-Am will be in for a great time. In addition the members of Hootie & the Blowfish, this year’s star-studded event will feature celebrities like Kyle Petty, Rick Flair, Samuel L. Jackson, Andrew Copeland, Bernie Kozar, and Edwin McCain. Professional golfers like John Daly, Kyle Thompson, Jim Furyk, and Garth Mulroy will also be present. Gates open to the public at 8:30 a.m. on April 12, 2010. Tickets are currently available at several locations; call the Barefoot Resort Pro Shop at 843-390-3200, The Dye Club Pro Shop at 843-399-7238, or the House of Blues at 843-272-3000 for more information.
